The Principle

In order to guarantee a proper handling also for newly planted trees, we have, together with the tree nursery Baumschule Bruns, Bad Zwischenahn, conducted a detailed scientific study on the actual bracing needs and the optimum range for movement of the individual tree species and planting sizes. The study showed that a flexible bracing triggers kind of a self-training and supports the natural growth. Young trees secured with cobra planting-bracing systems developed better right from the start compared with the usual rigid fixing. Due to the visually unobtrusive cobra planting bracing, the new tree presents itself rather than its bracing.

The cobra planting-bracing is composed of three bracings and three ground anchors. For special cases, there may be used quad-bracing systems.

Ground anchors are available in two versions:

Spiral anchors

Plate anchors

Both types of anchors are screwed into the ground facing in the direction of the rope. The points of installation should be at a distance of about 1.30 to 1.50 m away from the trunk axis - depending on the lower crown height - so as to ensure the optimum bracing angle of about 60°.

The pre-fabricated bracings are available in three different lengths and tensile strengths - depending on the usual lower crown height -:

S for alley trees 3 x v. trunk circumference 16 - 25 cm,
or lower crown height 2.0 - 2.4 m, rope: mini

M for alley trees 4 x v. trunk circumference > 25 cm,
or lower crown height 2.4 - 2.7 m, rope: standard

L for alley trees special size > 25 cm,
or lower crown height 2.7 - 3.0 m, rope: standard
